An exhibition
portraying Scandinavian
designs held at MDS
Gallery in Tokyo, by invitation from Issey Miyake and curated by Harri
Koskinen
to present new designers, each from a Scandinavian country.
Being the partner of
Tinna
Gunnarsdottir (Icelandic) in many
design projects, I found myself taking part in several Scandinavian
exhibitions. That was a very strange experience; I almost felt like I
was
loosing my identity as a Lebanese designer for a while. Scandinavia was
so
active in showing its talents and Lebanon was so little aware of
designs that I
had no choice but to see myself part of another culture.
The Rolling Stones,
project by
Chekerdjian &
Gunnarsdottir in 2001, was presented in Northern Lights exhibition
under the
name of Gunnarsdottir. One more time, my identity was a little mixed up.
